Risk Assessment
Dr Northey is able to provide comprehensive assessments of future risk of violent and/or sexual offending. When completing reports she can also provide treatment recommendations and assessment for suitability for progression within prison or secure psychiatric settings. This can be particularly helpful in complex cases, such as IPP sentences.
Psychological Assessment
A comprehensive psychological assessment usually involves a combination of clinical interview and psychometric measures to help inform a person about their behaviour, personality and capabilities. Psychological assessment and formulation can be helpful in a variety of situations, including assisting the Courts to understand an alleged offender’s cognitive functioning, level of suggestibility or even the presence of malingering.
Witness Services
The primary function of the expert witness is to assist the Court, Parole Board or Tribunal in reaching its decision by providing independent expert witness opinion and testimony. Dr Northey has built a wealth of experience of providing testimony in Crown and Family Courts along with attending numerous Parole Boards.
